Serus is a privacy company with paid tools to find and remove your personal data. This guide shows the free way to do it yourself.
Step by step
- 1
Clear contracts and unpaid amounts
mail.com only lets you delete an account with no active contracts and no unpaid amounts. Cancel any paid contract first.
- 2
Open Account
Log in and click Account at the top right.
- 3
Choose Delete Account
On the left side, click Delete Account.
- 4
Confirm
Click Delete Account, enter your mail.com password, then click Save changes. The account is deleted.
Watch out for
- All of your email is deleted with the account.
- For security reasons, your old email address is blocked for 1 year. Nobody can register it in that time, you included.
- Active contracts or unpaid amounts stop the deletion until they're sorted.

What stays out there
Closing the account stops new data collection at that one company. It doesn't touch copies that data brokers and people-search sites already hold, such as an email address, a name or a phone number that was scraped, bought or leaked earlier.
Serus finds where your details are listed and removes them from the sites that hold them, including people-search sites where you live.
Frequently asked
Can I use my mail.com address again after deleting?
Not right away. mail.com blocks the address for 1 year so no one can register it.
What happens to my emails when I delete the account?
They're deleted along with the account.
Why can't I delete my mail.com account?
mail.com requires that there are no active contracts or unpaid amounts. Cancel the contract or pay the balance, then try again.
