How to opt out of Valid Number
- 1
Find your number's page
Search the number on validnumber.com so you land on its own page.
- 2
Click Opt-Out
The link sits at the bottom of that page.
- 3
Follow the verification instructions that appear
Valid Number says it keeps what you submit here only for verification, compliance and preventing the data from reappearing.
- 4
Search your number again after a week
Valid Number's privacy policy gives no timing for removals. After you finish verification, search your number on validnumber.com again after about a week. Watch out for
- Valid Number may refuse requests that are fraudulent, abusive or unverified, so answer the verification prompts fully.
- Opt-out works per number. If you have several lines, repeat it on each page.

Your rights
The privacy policy says California residents can ask for access to or deletion of their data through the same opt-out process, with no account needed.
California: CCPA. If you live in California, the CCPA lets you ask a business to delete the personal information it holds about you and to stop selling or sharing it. Businesses generally have 45 days to respond. Read the full guide.
California: the Delete Act. Data brokers that hold information on Californians must register with the state. California residents can use DROP, the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, to send one deletion request to every registered broker at once. Read the full guide.
Other US states. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of other states give residents a similar right to delete. Vermont, Texas and Oregon also make data brokers register with the state. Where no state law applies, the broker's own opt-out above still works for most people. Read the full guide.
Canada: PIPEDA. You can withdraw your consent to a company using your personal information and ask it to correct what it holds. If it doesn't respond, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Read the full guide.
